She was hailed by Harold Pinter\u2019s widow, the biographer Antonia Fraser, as a writer who embodies \u201cthose qualities of courage and outspokenness which Harold much admired\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>An award-winning novelist \u2013 her 2004 debut Purple Hibiscus won the Commonwealth writers\u2019 prize, Half of a Yellow Sun won her the Orange prize in 2006, and\u00a0<a class=\"u-underline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2014\/mar\/14\/chimamanda-ngozi-adichie-americanah-national-book-critics-circle-awards\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Americanah took the US National Book Critics Circle award in 2014<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 Adichie is also known for her TED talks and essays.
